ティント・ベラーノ / Sparkling Red Wine / Tinto de verano

アルベルゲに到着して、料金を支払った後は、すぐにシャワーを浴びて、雨で冷えた身体を暖めた。
シャワーの後でも、まだ後続のメンバー全員は到着していなかったが、先に到着した何人かで、まだ雨が降っている中を近くのバルまで出かけて、昼食をとることにした。

このとき食べたメヌーが一番美味しかったように思う。
塩と胡椒で味付けしたシンプルなステーキと豆のスープだったが、空腹と疲れには何よりのご馳走だった。このとき、中島先生から赤ワインに炭酸水を混ぜるティント・デ・ベラーノtinto de veranoという飲み方を教えてもらった。炭酸が疲れた身体をリフレッシュしてくれた。

勘定を済ませて外へ出ると、あんなに激しく降っていた雨はすっかり上がり、真っ青な空が広がっていた。

Arrived at the albergue Brasil and taken a shower, we went out to have lunch, when it was still raining. At a bar in Vega de Valcarce, I ate beefsteak. At that time the director Ms. Nakajima told us about "Tinto Verano", a kind of sparkling wine, which made me really refreshed. When we got out of the bar, it was so sunny that no cloud can be seen in the sky. 雨のカミーノ / Rainy Camino / Llovia en el Camino

ビジャフランカでの朝食は、大きめのクロワッサンを食べることにした。

コーラと一緒にクロワッサンを食べている間も雨は止まず、むしろ激しさを増した。
そのため、目的地のベガ・デ・バルカルセVega de Valcarceまではかなりひどい雨の中を歩く羽目になった。車道から外れた森の中で、途中いくつかの小さな町に立ち寄り、バルなどでクレデンシアルにスタンプを押してもらったが、一旦休んでしまうと出発が億劫になりそうだったので、ほとんど休むことなく、ただひたすらにベガ・デ・バルカルセを目指した。

写真のヤコブ像を通り過ぎた後、雨が降る道端で村のおばあちゃんと少しだけ会話をした。何の話をしたかもう覚えてはいない――というか、おばあちゃんの話す速度が速すぎてほとんど理解できなかった、というのが実際のところ。

おばあちゃんと別れて1時間半くらい歩いた頃、つまりビジャフランカで朝食をとってから4時間以上経過した頃、ようやくベガ・デ・バルカルセのアルベルゲ、カサ・ド・ブラシルCasa do Brasilに到着した。
歩いている間は一応カッパを着ていたものの、カサ・ド・ブラシルに到着する頃には身体は冷え切っており、ジーンズの裾もかなり濡れてしまっていた。

After having breakfast in Villafranca del Bierzo, we walked long long way to the destination of the day, Vega de Valcarce, in the heaviest rain that we had on Camino. About a four-hour walk took me to Casa do Brasil, an albergue in Vega de Valcarce. Till then I got wet so badly. Después del desayuno en Villafranca del Bierzo, teníamos que andar camino larguísimo al destino del día, Vega de Valcarce. Estaba lloviendo muchisimo así que se han mojado mis jeans con la lluvia. 赦しの門 / Gate of Pardon / Puerta del Perdon

ビジャフランカの村の中心にはそれほど大きくない川が流れている。
そこへ向かって村はずれから下っていく途中に、カミーノの左手に赦しの門Puerta del Perdonがある。

そもそも、巡礼を行う大きな目的の一つが贖罪を得ることである。
しかし、病気や怪我などの理由で、道半ばにして巡礼を中断せざるを得なくなった巡礼者は、この門まで到達すれば、罪を赦された。昔は、現在のようにそう簡単に巡礼に行けるものでもなかったから、このように巡礼者の負担を軽減し、巡礼を奨励するような仕組みが作られたのだ、と中島先生から教えられた。

川を渡ってすぐ右手にあるカフェで、激しくなってくる雨を避けつつ軽い朝食をとることにした。

A river goes through the town of Villafranca del Bierzo. When we were going to the river, we saw the Gate of Pardon on our left. We heard from Ms. Nakajima, the director of the Camino course, that people went on a pilgrimage in order to get pardon but some people couldn't go to Santiago de Compostela because of their illness or injury, so the Catholic church decided that people could get pardon if they got to the Gate. Hay un río en Villafranca del Bierzo. Antes de cruzar este río, vimos la Puerta del Perdon. La directora Nakajima nos enseñó que la gente peregrinaba a Santiago para recibir perdon pero algunos peregrinos no podían ir a Santiago a causa de enfermedad o herida. Así que Iglesia católica había decidido que la gente quien lleguen a la Puerta del Perdon en Villafranca del Bierzo puedan recibir perdon. ブドウ畑 / Vineyards / Viñedo

【写真1：一面に広がるブドウ畑（2008年9月5日）】

カミーノを歩き始めて4日目。

この日もまだ暗いうちにカカベロスを出発し、明るくなる頃には一面のブドウ畑の中を歩いていた。ワイン用のブドウを育てているらしく、２、３粒頂戴した中にはかなり酸味のあるものもあった。まだ収穫の時期ではなかったというだけかもしれない。

小さな町を通り過ぎ、軽い斜面を登ったり下ったりしながら歩いているうちに、雨が降り出し、ビジャフランカ・デル・ビエルソVillafranca del Bierzoに到着するころにはかなり雨が降っていた。
