寝ている間、何か夢を見た。

ここ数日は、慣れない山歩き何かしたせいで疲れてぐっすり寝ていたというのに、昨日だって30km近く歩いたっていうのに、何だか変な夢を見た。……変だ、ということは覚えているけれど、内容を詳しくは覚えていない。ただ、そのせいで5時に目が覚めてしまった。（もしかしたら昨日飲んだアルコールの所為かも知れない。普段東京で生活している間はほとんどそんなことはない）

とにかく、こんな時間に起きても仕方ないので、出来るだけ夢の違和感について考えないようにしながら無理やり眠り、皆が起きるのに合わせて6時半頃再び起きた。

完全に夜が明ける前に、昨日の先生の指示通り、出来るだけメンバー同士固まらないようにしながら、まだ暗いパラス・ド・レイの町を後にした。

講義が終わると、皆は近くのバルへ夕食を食べに出かけて行った。

自分は、というと、何だかよく分からないのだけれど、無性に一人でいたくなったので、昼間に見つけたお店でパンと生ハムとビール（エストレリャ・ガリシア）を買って、一人でアルベルゲの部屋で夕食をとった。

どうしてか分からない。
カミーノ講習のメンバーの皆と一緒にいるのは楽しい筈なのに、何故か、言いようのない不安な気持ちが襲ってきた。

ビールを胃に流し込んで、暗くなった窓の外を眺めながら、今日はまだメールチェックをしていないことに気がついた。ふらふらと、近くのバルに行き、パソコンを使ってウェブメールにアクセスしたけれど、東京の知り合いからは誰からもメールは来ていなかった。

アルベルゲに戻ると、少し後に夕食を終えたメンバーが帰ってきた。

少しだけ会話をして、明日は日本人同士ではできるだけ歩かないように、との中島先生からのお達しがあった事を知って、その日はベッドに入った。

After the class, everyone but I went to a bar for dinner. At that time, somehow I felt like being alone, so I ate somne bread and jamon and drunk beer. I didn't know why, but something had made me uneasy. It might be because I was in Spain which is far away from Japan. After I came back from a bar where I checked e-mail, everyone came back and told me that Ms. Nakajima told us to walk separately the next day, that is, to walk with other pilgrims than our members. Después de la clase, todos miembros del curso iban a bar para cenar, pero me quedaba en el albergue y comía pan y jámon y entonces bebía Estrella Galicia. Tenía ganas de estar solo y estaba preocupado por algo, lo que no sabía ... tal vez porque estaba en España que está muy lejos de Japón. Después de que había comprobado e-mail, todos miembros volvieron al albergue y dijeron que nos había dicho Sra. Nakajima que no anduvieran juntos, anduvieran con los peregrinos de los otros países. 　今回の講義を行ってくれた先生は男性だった。男性の方が女性よりゆっくり話してくれる、という印象をもった。（サモス、ポルトマリーンと今回のたった3回の講義だから、データとしては少なすぎるが）いずれにせよ、ゆっくり話してくれたおかげで、地理学の特殊な用語以外は7，8割聞き取ることが出来たと思う。

　また、講義の内容そのものとは関係ないのだけれど、講義の後日譚を簡単に書いておこう。

　この講義の何日かあとにフィニステッラに実際に行き、しかも夕日が大西洋へ沈むところを目の前で見ることができた。カミーノ講習は、講義プラス実習と、素晴らしい構成の講習だと思った。

The lecture at Palas do Rei was delivered by a male professor, which gave me the impression that a Spanish man talks a little slowlier than a Spanish woman. Whether it's true or not, I suppose I could understand most of the lecture except for the technical words of geography. 　ガリシアの地理で特徴的かつ巡礼に関係している事というと、コスタ・デ・ラ・ムエルテ（死の海岸Costa de la muerte）とフィニステッラFinisterraがある。

　コスタ・デ・ラ・ムエルテは大西洋に面したガリシアの西部の海岸一帯を指し、その名称の由来には2つの説があるらしい。ひとつは岩礁が豊富な海岸線のため航行する船が悪天候の際に多く沈没したからという説である。他方、歴史的に見ればスペインの最西端であった現フィニステッラ付近は「大地の終わりfin de la terra」と呼ばれ、この名前から、太陽が「死ぬ」＝「沈む」海岸ということでコスタ・デ・ラ・ムエルテ・デル・ソルというのが本来の名前だとする説もあるという。

Talking about the geography in Galicia and the pilgrimage, the Costa de la muerte (the Death Coast) and Finisterra should be pointed out. The Costa de la muerte is the western coastline of Galicia. The professor told us two origins of its name. One is from the fact that the rocks in the sea prevented many ships from going safely and most of them went down .... The other one is said that the sun "sets" here in the west part of Spain, that is, the sun "dies" there, so the true name of the coast is Costa de la muerte del sol (Coast of the death of the sun).

En cuanto a la geografía en Galicia y a la peregrinación, se debe referir a la Costa de la muerte y Finisterra. El profesor nos enseñaba que había dos origenes del nombre de la Costa, uno de los que dice que las rocas en mar obligaban a los barcos a pasar la mar con mucho peligro, y otro de los que dice que el sol se pone en el oeste de España, esto es en Galicia, lo que antes suponía la muerte del sol, así que la nombre de verdad de la costa sería "la costa de la muerte del sol".

　しばらくして、3回目の講義があるとの呼び出しを受けて、アルベルゲのロビーのようなところに集まった。この日はガリシアを含めたスペイン全体の自然地理に関する講義を聞いた。

　講師の先生が言うには、イベリア半島は小さな大陸のようなものらしい。というのも、イベリア半島はユーラシア大陸とアフリカ大陸の間、大西洋と地中海の間にあって、生物の多様な種が存在しているからだ。生物だけではなく、気候や地形も多様であり、そのことが生物学的多様性を生むのに貢献しているとも言える。

　スペインの地理的多様性を示す事例の一つとして、スペインにはヨーロッパの地理的区分の6つのうち実に4つが内包されるという事実がある。すなわち、北欧などの北方型とドイツなどの大陸型を除いた大西洋型、アルプス型、地中海型、島嶼型の4つである。スペインの南部アンダルシア地方などには砂漠がある一方で、今回の巡礼で歩いてきた北東部は森林が広がっており多雨である。

　自然が豊富だということで、ここで話は自然保護の話、取り分けラムサール条約の話が出てきた。

　ラムサール条約で保護の対象となっている湿地はスペイン全体で50あり、うち5つがガリシアにある。ラムサール条約以外にも、スペインの各自治州が自然公園や国定公園といった形で自然を保護しようとしている。海岸沿いの地域を除けばほとんどが山地部に保護地区が集中している。しかし、例えばガリシアにおいては、酪農が主要な産業であったため、焼畑で牧草地の拡大が計られたことにより、大西洋風の森林は減少してしまった。また、保護地区が集中する地中海の海岸部は主にリゾートとしての役割を担い、高い経済効果を上げる一方で、マンション建設などによる自然破壊が問題となっているらしい。

The third lecture was about physical geography in Spain, especially in Galicia. Spain is, as the lecturer said, like a small continent which is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and European continent and African continent. Thus, Spain has got the diversity in geography and in biology. As to the geographical diversity, there four of six climate classsifications of Europe. For example, there exist deserts in Andalusia though the northwest parts that we've walked through has big forests. Of course, there are many species of animals and plants in Spain. The Ramsar Convention now covers 50 wetlands of Spain, 5 of which are in Galicia. The government of Spain and Spanish local governments are also plannng to protect nature of Spain, which includes the forests in Galicia and the beaches of Valencia and Catalonia. El tema de la tercera clase del curso era la geografía natural de España, especialmente de Galicia. España parece como, como el profesor de la clase, un continente pequeño que está rodeado de los mares mediterráneo y atlántico y de los continentes europeo y africano. Entonces España tiene la diversidad de la geografía y la la biología. Sobre la diversidad geografica, en España hay cuatro de los seis clasificaciones del clima eoropeo. Por ejemplo, Andalucía tiene los desiertos y Galicia tiene los bosques. Por supuesto existen en España muchas especies de los animales y las plantas. Entonces los objetos del convenio de Ramsar se puede enumerar hasta cinquenta, cinco de los cuales está en Galicia. El gobierno español central y local están tratando de proteger la natura de España, en la que se incluyen los bosques en Galicia y las playas en Valencia o Cataluña. パラス・ド・レイの町は少しだけ入り組んでいたけれど、アルベルゲを見つけるのはそれほど難しくなかった。

午後一時過ぎにアルベルゲに到着すると、先頭集団の男子2人がアルベルゲの受付の人と何やら話している。近づいていくと、どうやら人数分のベッドを確保しようとしているらしいが、うまく伝えられないらしい。といって、自分も自信はなかったのだけれど、とりあえずいい加減なスペイン語でその旨を伝え、部屋に案内してもらった。

外から丸見えになりかねないシャワー室でシャワーを浴びていると、残りのメンバーが到着した。
今回は洗濯機があったので、全員がシャワーを終えてから洗濯をした。

その後は、パラス・ド・レイの町の中をふらふらと一人で見て回った。土産物屋をみたり、小さなコンビニみたいなお店を回ったりして、結局部屋に戻ってベッドで横になった。

Though the town of Palas do Rei seemed a little complicated, it wasn't hard for me to find the albergue. When I got there, two of our members were talking with a clerk of the albergue, trying to reserve sixteen beds for all of our members. I helped them with my poor Spanish and got into the room. After we took shower, the rest of our members arrived and we did the laundry. After that, I walked around in the town alone and slept for a while in the room. Aunque era un poco complicada la villa de Palas do Rei, era no difícil para mí encontrar el albergue, en donde dos miembros de nosotros estaban hablando con una empleado, tratando de reservar las camas para todos de nosotros. Los ayudaba con mi mal español y entrabamos a la habitación. Después de ducharnos, los otros miembros llegaban al albergue y lavabamos las ropas. どこか遠く / Middle of nowhere / Medio de la nada

1時間も歩かないうちに、道端のカフェで休憩をとった。平地に下りてきたのに少し肌寒かったので、温かいカフェ・コン・レチェが嬉しかった。メンバーの中には、朝ごはんと称してボカディージョか何かを食べている奴もいた。

それからしばらく、つまり恐らく2、3時間歩いてから、たまたま道沿いにカフェのようなところを見つけたので、一緒に歩いていたメンバーと中に入って再度休憩した。例のごとくコーラを飲んでいると、他のメンバーが外を歩いて行くのが見えた。

それから15分ほどしてから後を追った。サリア・ポルトマリーン間と違い、1時間もしないうちに彼女らに追いつくことが出来たが、まだ先を歩いているメンバーがいるという。

何とか追いつこうとして、山の中でもない、街の中でもない、どこか遠くの田舎の道を、何時間か一人で歩いた。

他の巡礼者には全くと言っていいほど出会わなかった。
唯一出会ったのが、ノルウェーから来たという2人組だったけれど、挨拶と少しの会話をしただけで別れた。

結局、この日先頭の2人に追いついたのは、宿泊予定のパラス・ド・レイPalas do Reiのアルベルゲに着いた時だった。

After an hour's walk, we rested in a cafe with "cafe con leche". And another two or three hours walk took us to a bar, where we also rested with cola for some fifteen minutes. I knew that two of our members were walking ahead of me, so I tried walking fast alone for some hours, only to catch them up in the albergue of Palas do Rei. While I was walking alone somewhere around a town or a mountain, I felt like I had been in the middle of nowhere and I only met two pilgrims from Norway but didn't talk so much. Después de que habíamos andado una hora, más o menos, descansabamos en un café bibiendo café con leche. Otra vez andado dos o tres horas, bebíamos cola en un bar. Sabía que dos miembros del curso estaban andando, así que comencé a andar solo para alcanzarlos, pero solo pude en el albergue de Palas do Rei. Mientras andaba solo en algun lugar, me sentía que estuviera en el medio de la nada. Solamente encontraba a dos peregrinos de Noruega, pero no hablabamos mucho.
