レストランからアルベルゲに帰ってきても、話は終わらなかった。

昼間のうちに買っておいたビールを空けながら、ベッドに腰掛けて、巡礼中に起こった出来事、出会った人々、歩きながら考えたこと・感じたことなど、色々なことを話した。
これまでだったら、明日も30km歩かなくてはいけないから、と早めに寝るところだったが、明日はサンティアゴまでの数kmを残すのみである。

話は午前1時ごろまで続いた。

After coming back from the restaurant, we continued talking. Sitting on the bed, drinking beer that we bought in the afternoon, we talked about the people, events, and what we thought on the Camino de Santiago. As we were to walk only several miles to Santiago tomorrow, we talked till midnight.

アルベルゲの受付では、係の人が日本語で挨拶してくれた。
それに驚きつつ部屋に行ってみると、かなりきれいな部屋で、二段ベッドが４つあった。

荷物を置いて、シャワーを浴びて、洗濯をするといういつもの段取りをこなしているうちに、これまた例によって残りのメンバーも無事到着した。

手前の村に買い物に行ったり、洗濯物を干したりしつつ、あと30分ほどに迫ったプレゼンの準備をした。
他のメンバーも色々とメモを作ったりしている。

そうこうしている間に、中島先生から集合の声がかかった。

To my surprise, a reception clerk talked to us in Japanese. Our room was very clean. As usual, we took shower and did the laundry. After buying some food for tomorrow morning, we prepared for the presentation. About 30 minutes later, Ms. Nakajima called us.

「喜びの丘」が見えたものの、真っ直ぐたどり着けたわけではなかった。
少し右側に迂回して、ふもとの小さな村を通る必要があった。
村の中には小さなバルがあって、飲み物やパンくらいは買えそうだった。

その村を抜けると、ようやく丘に到着した。
先程見えた像があるあたりへ行くと、遠くのほうにサンティアゴの町が見えた。

その手前には、今夜泊まる予定のアルベルゲが見えた。
アルベルゲ、というよりはむしろキャンプ場のような感じで、モンテ・ド・ゴソのアルベルゲは特別大きかった。
おそらく1500人以上が宿泊できそうだった。

いくつもある建物の間を抜けて、受付を探して奥のほうまで進むと、入口の方に受付があると教えられ、仕方なく受付まで戻ることにした。

Having walked through a small village in front of the Monte do Gozo, we could see that statue. From there, the city of Santiago de Compostela and the albergue of Monte do Gozo can be seen. The albergue rather seemed like a camp. It was very very big and seemed to be able to accommodate more than 1,500 people. Thus we could somehow find the reception office. パラス・ド・レイでの講義 (1) / Lecture in Palas do Rei (1) / Clase en Palas do Rei (1)

　しばらくして、3回目の講義があるとの呼び出しを受けて、アルベルゲのロビーのようなところに集まった。この日はガリシアを含めたスペイン全体の自然地理に関する講義を聞いた。

　講師の先生が言うには、イベリア半島は小さな大陸のようなものらしい。というのも、イベリア半島はユーラシア大陸とアフリカ大陸の間、大西洋と地中海の間にあって、生物の多様な種が存在しているからだ。生物だけではなく、気候や地形も多様であり、そのことが生物学的多様性を生むのに貢献しているとも言える。

　スペインの地理的多様性を示す事例の一つとして、スペインにはヨーロッパの地理的区分の6つのうち実に4つが内包されるという事実がある。すなわち、北欧などの北方型とドイツなどの大陸型を除いた大西洋型、アルプス型、地中海型、島嶼型の4つである。スペインの南部アンダルシア地方などには砂漠がある一方で、今回の巡礼で歩いてきた北東部は森林が広がっており多雨である。

　自然が豊富だということで、ここで話は自然保護の話、取り分けラムサール条約の話が出てきた。

　ラムサール条約で保護の対象となっている湿地はスペイン全体で50あり、うち5つがガリシアにある。ラムサール条約以外にも、スペインの各自治州が自然公園や国定公園といった形で自然を保護しようとしている。海岸沿いの地域を除けばほとんどが山地部に保護地区が集中している。しかし、例えばガリシアにおいては、酪農が主要な産業であったため、焼畑で牧草地の拡大が計られたことにより、大西洋風の森林は減少してしまった。また、保護地区が集中する地中海の海岸部は主にリゾートとしての役割を担い、高い経済効果を上げる一方で、マンション建設などによる自然破壊が問題となっているらしい。

The third lecture was about physical geography in Spain, especially in Galicia. Spain is, as the lecturer said, like a small continent which is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and European continent and African continent. Thus, Spain has got the diversity in geography and in biology. As to the geographical diversity, there four of six climate classsifications of Europe. For example, there exist deserts in Andalusia though the northwest parts that we've walked through has big forests. Of course, there are many species of animals and plants in Spain. The Ramsar Convention now covers 50 wetlands of Spain, 5 of which are in Galicia. The government of Spain and Spanish local governments are also plannng to protect nature of Spain, which includes the forests in Galicia and the beaches of Valencia and Catalonia. Por ejemplo, Andalucía tiene los desiertos y Galicia tiene los bosques. Por supuesto existen en España muchas especies de los animales y las plantas. Entonces los objetos del convenio de Ramsar se puede enumerar hasta cinquenta, cinco de los cuales está en Galicia. El gobierno español central y local están tratando de proteger la natura de España, en la que se incluyen los bosques en Galicia y las playas en Valencia o Cataluña. パラス・ド・レイの町は少しだけ入り組んでいたけれど、アルベルゲを見つけるのはそれほど難しくなかった。

午後一時過ぎにアルベルゲに到着すると、先頭集団の男子2人がアルベルゲの受付の人と何やら話している。近づいていくと、どうやら人数分のベッドを確保しようとしているらしいが、うまく伝えられないらしい。といって、自分も自信はなかったのだけれど、とりあえずいい加減なスペイン語でその旨を伝え、部屋に案内してもらった。

外から丸見えになりかねないシャワー室でシャワーを浴びていると、残りのメンバーが到着した。
今回は洗濯機があったので、全員がシャワーを終えてから洗濯をした。

その後は、パラス・ド・レイの町の中をふらふらと一人で見て回った。土産物屋をみたり、小さなコンビニみたいなお店を回ったりして、結局部屋に戻ってベッドで横になった。

Though the town of Palas do Rei seemed a little complicated, it wasn't hard for me to find the albergue. When I got there, two of our members were talking with a clerk of the albergue, trying to reserve sixteen beds for all of our members. I helped them with my poor Spanish and got into the room. After we took shower, the rest of our members arrived and we did the laundry. After that, I walked around in the town alone and slept for a while in the room. 再会 (2) / Met Again (2) / Encuentro de nuevo (2)

　新しく到着した2人も加えて4人でアルベルゲに戻ると、入り口のところで、アウグスティンら以前ラバナルで出会った巡礼者たち3人と再会することができた。

　あれから1週間近くスペインに滞在しているにもかかわらず、相変わらずの英語・スペイン語交じりで会話をこなした。日本にいる時と比べて格段にスペイン語を使う機会があるのに、これでは……と思いつつも、どうすることもできなかった。

　アウグスティンから、最初に一緒に歩いていたハリーが体調を崩してペースが遅れていると聞いて、心配になった（結局のところ、サンティアゴ・デ・コンポステーラ到着後も彼と会う機会はなかった。サンティアゴを離れる直前に、彼が無事サンティアゴに到着したらしいという話を聞いて安心できたが、最後に話す機会がなかったのは非常に残念である）。

　夕食後に、祭りを見ながら飲む用に、と先程のスーパーでエストレジャ・ガリシアを買ったりしているうちに、5時過ぎたくらいになり、中島先生を含む残りのメンバーも皆到着した。全員がシャワーを浴び、少ない洗濯機でなんとか段取りをつけて一段落したところで、先生から講義が始まるとのお達しがあった。

Four of us arrived at the albergue. There we met again "amigos," Augustin and David ond others, who we met before in Rabanal del Camino. I talked with them in easy Spanish and broken English and heard that Harry was walking slowly because he was in poor health. Though I was worried about him, I couldn't meet him again in the end. When the other members arrived at the albergue and we all had a shower and did the washing, Ms. Nakajima told us that the lecture of the day were going to start. アイスクリーム / Ice cream / Helado

ポルトマリーンのアルベルゲに行くと、中島先生がすでに手配していてくれたらしく、すんなりと16人分のベッドを確保することができた。しかし、アルベルゲのおばちゃんの曰く、使えるようにするまでまだ時間がかかる、とのこと。
仕方がないのでその間にシャワーを浴びさせてもらうことにした。

温かい湯を浴びながら、昨日のサモスで洗濯機がなく手洗いをせざるを得なかったために洗えなかった洗濯物のこと、今夜あるはずの2回目の講義のこと、そのあとで開催されるはずの祭りのこと、などをぼんやりと考えた。

シャワーを終えて、アルベルゲの入り口で涼んでいると、一緒に到着したメンバーもシャワーを終えて出てきた。ふらふらと2人で近くのスーパーへ行き、ポルトマリーンへ来る途中で先生へ電話してもらう代わりに、ということで約束していたアイスクリームを買って、近くの階段で座って食べていた。すると、2番目のグループが到着したところに出くわした。一緒にアルベルゲに戻りつつ、後方の様子を聞いたりした。

アルベルゲに戻るときには祭りの準備をしている様子が見えた。大きなステージがあり、本格的な演奏がされるらしい。

As we got to the albergue of Portomarín, we could find enough beds for sixteen people. While the caretakers were preparing the beds, we took a shower and went to a supermarket to buy an ice cream which I had promised my companion to buy on the way to Portomarín in return for a call to Ms. Nakajima. When we're eating the ice cream sitting on a stone step, two other members arrived. Going back to the albergue, we saw people preparing for the festival. 洗濯日和 / Perfect Day for Laundry / Día perfecto para lavadero

さて、修道院に到着したが、中島先生によれば、どうやら修道院のアルベルゲに泊まるのではなく、修道院の内部の客室に宿泊する予定らしい。ところが、世話をしてくれるはずの修道院の係りの人が午後1時まで用事があるらしく、30分ほど修道院前で時間をつぶした。

すぐに部屋に行くものと思っていたが、修道院の客用の宿泊部屋にはシャワーがないため、修道院付属のアルベルゲでシャワーを浴びた。ここのシャワーは今回の旅の中ではかなり悪い部類で、水が細々と出るだけであったので、汗を流す程度しかできなかった。

シャワーから出た後に洗濯をしようとしたが、ここのアルベルゲには洗濯機がないため、手洗いをせざるをえなかった。昨日のトリアカステラへの到着が遅かったために洗濯・乾燥を行う時間がなかったため、洗濯物がたまっている。徒歩での移動ゆえに、荷物は最低限しか持ってきていないので、このままでは着る服がなくなる可能性があった。幸い、空は雲ひとつないくらいに快晴だったので、下着類のみ洗濯した。手洗いというのは人生で初めてだったが、なかなかいい経験になったと思う。

洗濯物を干したあとは、修道院の前のレストランで昼食をとった。その後、修道院の周りを散歩したり、カフェでコーヒーを飲んだりして過ごし、修道院の正面（ファサード）から入ったところにあるグッズ売り場を見て回った。

ただ、残念なことにファサードが工事中であり、鉄の足場が邪魔できちんと見られなかった。

Ms. Nakajima told us that we're going to stay in a guest room of the monastery of Samos, not in the albergue. Before entering the monastery, we took shower in the albergue, because there aren't any showers in the guest room. After taking a cold shower, we washed our clothes by our own hands. It was, perhaps, the first time for me to do that, which seemed to be a good experience for me. After having lunch together in a restaurant in front of the monastery, I took a walk around the monastery and had a coffee in a cafe. And also I visited a shop inside the facade, which was still under reconstruction and couldn't be seen well. Nos dijo Sra. Nakajima que no nos ibamos a quedar en el albergue sino en una habitación de huéspedes del monasterio de Samos. Después de haber comido en un restaurante en frente del monasterio, yo solo andaba alrededor del monasterio y tomaba un café en un bar. セブレイロ峠 (5) / O Cebreiro (5)

缶ビールを空けたりしながら、先頭グループに交じって気分よく目的地のアルト・ド・ポヨAlto do Poioへとたどり着いた。と同時に、なんだか違和感があった。
おかしい、町らしい町が、ない。

一応アルベルゲがあったので、中に入って話を聞いてみると、なんとアルベルゲには７人分のベッドしかないという。メンバーの一人に、後ろから来ている中島先生に携帯で連絡を取ってもらうと、先に進むしかないという。

悲劇である。
ここまで、20km超を歩いてきたのに……。とはいえ、3km程度で次の村だと分かったので、気を取り直して進むことにした。3kmなら1時間もかからないだろう、と。

しかし、悲劇は続く。
次の村に進むと、アルベルゲの前で巡礼者が5、6人集まっている。話を聞くと、午後3時にならないとアルベルゲが開かないため、それを待っているのだという。20分ほど時間があったので、いろいろと話をしたら、スペイン以外にも、カナダ、オーストリアなど色々なところから来ているのだと分かった。

そうこうしている内に、３時になってアルベルゲの中に入ると、ベッドは６台しかないという。仕方がないので、とりあえず昼食だけでも食べておこうと思い近くのバルでボカディージョを注文しようとするも、ボカディージョはない、と断られる。

もはや悪夢である。

When we got to Alto do Poio, we're told that, in the albergue, there weren't beds enough for us to stay here. So we had to go further, 3 kilometers were left to next village. To make bad things worse, we're told the same in this next village .... We hoped to have sandwitches for lunch, for it was already around 3 pm, but we couldn't. Yes, it was like a nightmare. サンティアゴ・ケーキ / Cake of Santiago / Tarta de Santiago

アルベルゲに戻ってからは、雨が上がっている内に濡れた服などを干して、後から到着したメンバーと再び買い物に出かけるなどして過ごした。

先ほど訪れたスーパーの近くには、教会らしき建物があった。
中に入ってみると、誰もいなかったので、そこでしばらくぼーっとして過ごした。

夕食は例によって近くのバルで済ませた。
もはや自炊する体力は残っていなかったからだ。
この日、今回のスペイン訪問で恐らく初めてパエリャがメニューに載っていた。
しかし、パエリャは残り少ししかないということで、全員が注文することは出来なかった。
デザートにはサンティアゴ・ケーキを選んだ。砂糖のかかった普通のアーモンド・ケーキだけれど、なかなか美味しかった。

暗い道をてくてくとアルベルゲへ戻り、昼間のうちに買っておいたサラミをつまみに、レモン風味やリンゴ風味のビールなどを皆で飲んだ。
普通のビールを2本、レモン風味とリンゴ風味をそれぞれ2本ずつ買っておいたのだけれど、レモン風味はかなりいけるとしても、リンゴ風味はちょっと、お世辞にも、美味しいとは言えなかったので、1本残ることになってしまった。
今日のひどい雨の感想、これまでの道のりなどいろいろと話をした。ようやく一日20km以上歩くのにも慣れてきた、とかなんとか。

明日はいよいよ今回の行程で一番の難所、セブレイロ峠。
とんでもないハプニングが待ち受ける。

Back in the albergue, I hung out the washing and went to the supermarket again with the rest of our group, who arrived late. Near the supermarket I found a church and stayed there for a while. We had dinner in a bar in which I had a beans soup and meat and a cake of Santiago. Before going to sleep, the boys of our group and I drank some beer that I bought this afternoon and talked about the heavy rain of this day. Con los otros miembros del curso el Camino, volvía al supermercado para comprar algo, pero yo estaba en una iglesia cerca del supermercado. Cenamos en un bar de Vega de Valcarce. Aquí comí tarta de Santiago por primera vez, estaba muy bien. Antes de dormir, con los chicos del curso bebíamos cerveza que compré y hablabamos sobre la lluvia del día. すっかり晴れた空の下、ベガ・デ・バルカルセの町を少し散歩することにした。
町の南の山の頂上には城か砦のようなものが見える。
その砦を左手に、1本しかない道をてくてくと歩く。

それほど大きくない町ながら、小さなスーパーが2つもあった。
そのうちの1つで、夕食後に飲むビールや朝食用のパンを買ってアルベルゲに帰ると、まだ到着していなかった残りのメンバーに加えて、ハリーに再会することができた。

嬉しいことに、ハリーは僕の名前を覚えていてくれたらしく、ひとしきり話した。
英語だったか、スペイン語だったかはもう覚えていない。

雨上がりの午後は楽しく過ぎてゆく。

Then, when we went back to the albergue, we met the other members of the course of el Camino, who hadn't arrived yet when we went out to have lunch, and with them again I saw Harry, one of my friends on Camino! ティント・ベラーノ / Sparkling Red Wine / Tinto de verano

アルベルゲに到着して、料金を支払った後は、すぐにシャワーを浴びて、雨で冷えた身体を暖めた。
シャワーの後でも、まだ後続のメンバー全員は到着していなかったが、先に到着した何人かで、まだ雨が降っている中を近くのバルまで出かけて、昼食をとることにした。

このとき食べたメヌーが一番美味しかったように思う。
塩と胡椒で味付けしたシンプルなステーキと豆のスープだったが、空腹と疲れには何よりのご馳走だった。このとき、中島先生から赤ワインに炭酸水を混ぜるティント・デ・ベラーノtinto de veranoという飲み方を教えてもらった。炭酸が疲れた身体をリフレッシュしてくれた。

勘定を済ませて外へ出ると、あんなに激しく降っていた雨はすっかり上がり、真っ青な空が広がっていた。

Arrived at the albergue Brasil and taken a shower, we went out to have lunch, when it was still raining. At a bar in Vega de Valcarce, I ate beefsteak. At that time the director Ms. Nakajima told us about "Tinto Verano", a kind of sparkling wine, which made me really refreshed. アルベルゲでのんびりしていると、いつの間にか夕食の時間だった。
暑い中歩いて疲れたため、自炊せずに町のバルでメヌーを食べることになった。

白ワインや豚肉に加えて、このとき初めて茹でダコのオリーブオイルがけを食べた。
タコは日本で食べるよりもずっと軟らかく、とにかく美味しかった。タコの本場は、やはり海産物が多いガリシアだと教えてもらったので、明後日のガリシア入りが一層楽しみとなった。

バルからの帰り、町の住人と思しき少年と会話した。日本から来たと言ったのに「歩いて？」と返されたり、なぜかカンフーの話を振られたり。彼の話すスピードにはなかなかついていけず、少し苦労したけれど、楽しかった。

アルベルゲに戻ってから、昼間のうちに買っておいたビールを飲みながら、講習のメンバーたちとおしゃべり。
こうして楽しく夜は更けていくのでした……。

This night we decided to eat dinner in a bar, where we ate octopus, which was really soft and nice, with white wine. On the way to the albergue, I met a boy living in the town, Cacabelos, and talked for a while. It was a bit hard for me to listen to him because he talked fast. After that, I talked with my friends, members of the course of Camino, over beer which I bought in the afternoon. Night on Camino went like this .... 昼間からビールは当たり前 / Daytime Drinking is Usual / Beber del día es Usual

昼食のあと、カカベロスの村まではそれほど距離はなかった。
加えて、ポンフェラーダ以前の山道ではなく比較的平坦な道だったので楽だった。

この日は２日目と比べて非常に天気がよく、カカベロスに着く頃にはかなり消耗していた。
（日焼け対策を何もしないままにずっと半袖で歩いていたので、左腕の日焼けが12月になっても少し残っていた。）

カカベロスのアルベルゲは、教会を取り囲むようにに付属するムニシパルを選んだ。
ここではインターネットを無料で使用できたが、ワイヤレスなうえに処理能力が低いのかなかなかネットにつながらなかった。
部屋自体は2人部屋で、かなりきれいな部類だった。

重いトレッキングシューズを脱ぐ瞬間がまた気持ち良いのだ。

洗濯、シャワーを一通り終えた後、マオウMahouという銘柄の缶ビールを自販機で買って、講習の男子メンバーと乾杯した。暑い日だったし、昼食ではまだ目的地についていなかったため飲まなかったから、なんとも言えない爽快感があった。
そのままふらふらと町へ買出しに出かけると、橋の上から川に飛び込んで遊んでいる少年たちがいた。楽しそうだったが、一緒にやる元気はなかった。

カカベロスの町のスーパーでは、明日の朝食用のパンやヨーグルトとミネラルウォーターを購入した。
また、缶ビールが安かったので（0.5ユーロ程度）、夜みんなで飲むために、これも数本購入した。

After lunch we walked a little on a flat land to Cacabelos. It was so fine that, even in December of 2008, I was still suntanned.... In Cacabelos we stayed in a public albergue, which was around a church. I could use the Internet for free but because of the wireless it wasn't so good. After taking shower and doing laundry, we drank beer named "Mahou". It is so nice to have beer in such a hot day, even it's daytime, isn't it? In a supermarket of the town, we bought some food for breakfast. And adding to that I bought some beer for tonight.... Después de la comida, andabamos en tierra llana hasta Cacabelos. Hacía sol muy bien. Así que estuve un poco bronceado todavía en diciembre de 2008. En cacabelos elegimos un albergue municipal. 今回は女子メンバーが調理を担当し、ミートソースのスパゲッティとワインが夕食となった。
というわけで、夕食ができるまでは部屋でのんびりしていた。

16人分のスパゲッティを茹でるのに時間がかかったためか、雨上がりのテラスでの食事は、消灯時間10時ぎりぎりに終わった。会話も弾んで、楽しい食事だった。

最初の２日間は、体力的にも余裕があったので自炊をすることができたが、3日目以後は歩く距離が少し伸びたため、体力的にも時間的にも自炊が難しくなり、バルでの食事が中心となった。

夜は相変わらず疲れているためか、ストンと眠りに落ちてしまった。
カミーノでの2日目はここまでとなる。

This time, it was the turn for the girls of our group to cook dinner. This day's dinner was spaghetti with meat sauce and Spanish wine. They had to boil spaghetthi for 16 members of the group. So it took a lot of time and we could only finish our dinner at almost ten o'clock. モリナセカ (1) / Molinaseca (1)

モリナセカに到着するまで、僕は先頭のグループで歩いていた。一番遅いグループは先頭集団から３、40分遅れての到着した。
これはまだいいほうで、旅の後半になると、昼食を完全に終える頃に後続部隊が到着したり、２つのグループに分かれて別の村に泊まったりすることさえあった。

後続のメンバーが到着するまでの間に、僕たちはシャワー、洗濯を済ませることができた。
温かいお湯のシャワーを浴びるのはとても気持ちよかった。

モリナセカのアルベルゲはプリバド（私営）で、7ユーロだった。ラバナルで泊まったアルベルゲよりもさらにきれいで、なおかつ広い部屋で、16人のメンバー全員が同じ部屋に泊まることができた。
初日に知り合った、ハリーとアウグスティンもこの日は同じアルベルゲに泊まった。
このアルベルゲには、生まれたばかり（生後2週間とのこと）の子犬がいた。ロビーでひとしきりこいつと遊んだ後、昼食に出かけた。

モリナセカでの昼食は、村のバルでトルティージャを挟んだボカディージョを食べた。飲み物を付けて5.2ユーロ。

食事の後は教会を見学し、帰りに食料品店に寄って、夕食のためにスパゲッティなどを購入した。

さて、夕食の話はまた次回。Hasta luego!

During this day I walked in the first group. So I could take shower and do the laundry before the other groups arrived. This delay must be better than the one of some days later, when we once had to stay in another town. Anyway, the hot shower made me comfortable. I talked a little with Harry and Augustin, who stayed in the same albergue this day. Then some of the members of the course and I had lunch at a bar. I ate a sandwich with tortilla. ラバナル・デル・カミーノ / Rabanal del Camino

ハリーとアウグスティンと、自分がスペイン史について勉強していることについて話したり、カミーノについて教えてもらったりしながら、ようやく初日の目的地であるラバナル・デル・カミーノRabanal del Caminoという町に到着したのは、確か２時過ぎだったと思う。

この日は先生もいれて16人のメンバーがほぼ同時に目的地の村に到着した。従って、洗濯機を回したり、シャワーを浴びたり、とにかく16人が一度に動くので時間がかかった。
けれど、全員がお湯のシャワーを浴びられただけましだっただろうか。残りの旅程では、アルベルゲ（巡礼宿）の給湯器の性能上、一番先に到着したメンバー以外はほぼ水のシャワーというアルベルゲも何度か登場した。中には水すらほとんど出ない、というものもあったのだが……それについてはまた、そのうち。

この日のアルベルゲは確か公営で、料金は5ユーロだったけれど、アストルガで泊まったアルベルゲより建物は小さいがそれぞれの部屋は割とゆったりしていた。

最初のアルベルゲ / First night in albergue / Primera noche en albergue

最初のアルベルゲは、プリバドだからか、予想よりも随分ときれいな建物だった。2階と3階が宿泊スペースとなっており、ところ狭しと二段ベッドが並べられ、50人ほどが宿泊できるようだった。我々は3階（といっても屋根裏部屋みたいな感じの部屋だった）に泊まることになった。

荷物をベッドに置き寝袋を広げてベッドを確保した後、重たいトレッキングシューズからサンダルに履き替えて一階の受付で7ユーロの宿代を払い、さらに１ユーロを支払ってクレデンシアルを受け取った。行く先々でスタンプを押してもらうためのカードなのだが、最終的にはサンティアゴでコンポステラーナ（巡礼の後に授けられる贖宥状のこと）をもらうために必要となる証明書でもある。

シャワーを浴びた後、ようやく暗くなり始めた午後９時過ぎからアルベルゲの近くのレストランで、美味しいワインとともに食事をとり、11時頃にアルベルゲへ戻り就寝した。

いよいよ、明日からカミーノを歩く、と思うと緊張したが、アルコールが入っていたせいか寝付きは悪くなかった。

In the private albergue of Astorga, we've got beds for this night for 7 euro. We've also got credencials which is necessary to get "compostellana", kinda indulgence, in Santiago. At about 9, we had dinner at a restaurant near the albergue. Spanish wine was so good. Though I was a bit worried about walking the next day, I could sleep well, maybe thanks to alcohol. アストルガの町 / Town of Astorga / Ciudad de Astorga

アストルガに到着したのは結構遅い時間であったように思う。
そのため、最初のアルベルゲは、ムニシパル（公営）のアルベルゲがバス乗り場から離れていたこともあり、プリバド（私営）のものを選択した。

アルベルゲというのは、日本語に訳せば巡礼宿のことである。（古い文献だと旅籠という訳も見られる。）
ムニシパルにせよプリバドにせよ、どちらも一般的なホテルに泊まるよりはかなり安あがりであるが、巡礼者以外は利用できないきまりである。

アルベルゲに向かう途中、右手に大きな建物が見えた。（町に着いたときから割りと目立っていた）誰かが言っていたが、バルセロナにあるかのサグラダ・ファミリア教会を設計した建築家ガウディによって設計された司教館らしい。建築のことは、全くの勉強不足でよく分からないけれど、素敵な建物だと思った。
