巡礼の本筋とは何の関係もないのだけれど、
先日ティント・ベラーノを飲む機会があったので写真を。

ビスケー湾を越えて / Over the Bay of Biscay / Sobre el Golfo de Vizcaya

乗り込んだ飛行機は座席が全部で三列しかない小型のものだった。
座席の少なさに驚きながらも着席すると、間もなく離陸した。

シャルル・ド・ゴールへと向かう短い空の旅だったが、軽食が出た。ハムのサンドイッチを食べながら、せっかくだからとハイネケンを飲む。

はるか真下に大西洋、ビスケー湾が見えている。
歩いたらどれだけかかる距離だろう、と考えているうちに眠ってしまった。

目覚めると、眼下には平野が広がっていた。人工的な区画があちこちに見える。そういえば昔読んだＭ・ブロックの本に、農地の区画の話が出ていたような。
川が流れているのが見えた――あれはセーヌ川だろうか。

つらつらと目に見える風景に思いを巡らせているうちに、２時間ほどの空の旅はすぐに終わりを迎えた。

The airplane we boarded was so small that it had only three seats in a row. It soon took off and we ordered sandwich and Heineken. Through the window, the Atlantic Ocean or the Bay of Biscay could be seen down below. While I was thinking how long it would take if I walk this distance, I fell asleep. I woke up to find a large flat land spreading under the airplane. Then I could see some artificial lots there and remembered a book of M. Bloch that I once read. El avión que embarcamos fue tan pequeño que sólo tenía tres asientos en una fila. Pronto se despegó y ordenamos bocadillos y Heineken. A través de la ventana, abajo se podía ver el Océano Atlántico o el Golfo de Vizcaya. Mientras estaba pensando en cuánto tiempo tomaría andar esta distancia a pie, me quedé dormido. Me desperté y encontré una grande tierra plana extendiendo bajo el avión. Entonces pude ver algunos lotes artificiales allí y me recordé un libro de M. Bloch, que una vez leído. バスターミナル / Bus terminal / Terminal de autobuses

サンティアゴのバスターミナルは想像していたより広かった。

この後、昼過ぎのバスでサンティアゴからビーゴVigoへ向かい、ビーゴ空港からパリへ飛び、来たとき同様にシャルル・ド・ゴール空港から成田空港へ向かう予定である。
荷物は寮に置いたままだし、バスの発車まではまだ時間がある。
というわけで、各自バスのチケットを購入して、時間をつぶすことにした。

街中を散策していると、ガリシア自治政府の建物があった。
さらに歩いていくと、エンパナーダを売っているお店があったので、みんなで買って食べながら少し休憩した。

荷物を取りに寮へ戻る。
バスのチケットを見ていると、サンティアゴを離れるのだという実感が徐々に湧いてきた。

The bus terminal of Santiago was larger than I had expected. That afternoon we're to move to Vigo, then we would fly to Paris and from Paris to Tokyo. We had a little time till the departure time, so after we bought the tickets to Vigo, we walked around the street. Passing by the building of Xunta de Galicia, we found a shop selling empanadas. We bought them and tasted them. Then we returned to the dormitory in order to pick up our luggage. Seeing my ticket to Vigo, I was realizing the departure. La terminal de autobuses de Santiago era más grande de lo que yo esperaba. Por la tarde hemos de ir a Vigo, luego volaría a París y de París a Tokio. Tuvimos un poco de tiempo hasta la hora de salida de autobus, así que después compramos los billetes a Vigo, caminamos por la calle. Pasando por el edificio de la Xunta de Galicia, nos encontramos con una tienda que vendía empanadas. Hemos compradolos y los comimos. Luego volvimos a la residencia para recoger nuestro equipaje. 昼食会 / Lunch with officers / Almuerzo con oficiales

ここでも、ガリシア政府の方々との昼食会が設けられた。海沿いの町ということで、海産物のコースが振舞われた。

おなじみのタコも美味しかったのだが、マテ貝という細長い形の貝が美味しかった。

食後に、店の外で政府の方々と一緒に写真を取って、挨拶をして、彼らとはそこで別れた。

フィニステッラから最後の講義があるムシーアMuxíaへと移動するために、バスに乗り込んだところで、ひどい眠気に襲われて、次に目を覚ました時には既にムシーアの手前まで来ていた。

Here again we had lunch with the officers of Galician government. The octopus and the pen shell were especially very nice. After that, out of the restaurant, we took some pictures with them and said good bye. From Finisterra, we took bus to Muxía, where we were to be given the last class. Una vez más hemos tenido un almuerzo con los oficiales de la Xunta de Galicia. El pulpo y el muergo fueron especialmente muy deliciosos. Después de eso, fuera del restaurante, nos tomamos unas fotos con ellos y les dijo adiós. Desde Finisterra, tomamos autobús a Muxía, donde íbamos a tener la última clase. サンティアゴでの夕食は、これまで通りレストランで取ることになった。

サンティアゴ大学からレストランまで、10分か15分ほど歩いただろうか。長い道のりを歩き終えた開放感も手伝ってか、他愛のない話をしながら店に入る。

運ばれてきた料理を食べながら、旅の途中の思い出話で盛り上がった。初日に、アストルガから歩いたこと。雨の中、高速道路の横をひたすら歩き続けたこと。山を越えて、30km以上歩いた日のこと。地元のお祭りに参加しておどったこと……。

話は尽きなかったが、仲間の一人が誕生日だったので、レストランの店員にお願いしてケーキを用意してもらった。サンティアゴに着いてからメンバーが用意したプレゼントを渡したところ、喜んでもらえたようだった。

食事の代金を支払って、レストランを出ようとしたとき、店員さんに「お店のＴシャツかっこいいね」と言うと、何故か人数分用意してくれた（その赤いＴシャツは、今も大事に取ってある）。

店員さんにお礼を言って、夜のサンティアゴへと出た。

Sorry for being so late.

We had dinner in a reastaurant. Since we left the dormitory, we kept talking so much about the pilgrimage we had done. Astorga, the rainy day, the day when we walked more than 30km, the local festival, and more .... During dinner, we had one member whose birthday was this day, so we gave her a present, which seemed to have pleased her, and we ate cake. When we're going out, we told a clerk that he weared a nice T-shirt, then he proposed to give it to all of us. We thanked him and recieved them. Now it's the time to enjoy the night of Santiago. Cenamos en un restaurante. Desde que salimos de la residencia, seguíamos hablando mucho sobre la peregrinación que habíamos hecho. Astorga, el día de lluvia, el día en que andaba más de 30 kilómetros, el festival local, y más .... Durante la cena, había un miembro cuyo cumpleaños fue el día de hoy, por lo que le dimos un regalo, que parecía placerle, y entonces comimos torta. Cuando vamos a salir del restaurante, dijimos a un empleado que se ponía una camiseta bonita, a continuación, nos proponía darlas a todos nosotros. Así que le dimos las gracias y los recibimos. 昼食会 / Lunch / Comida

新たに2、3人のガリシア自治政府役人の方が加わって、20人くらいで少し離れたレストランに歩いていった。

これまでカミーノを歩いてきて、昼食というとメヌー・デル・ディア、つまりメイン2皿にパンが付いてくる形式のものがほとんどだった。
今回もそんな感じだろうか、とぼんやり考えていたら、見事に予想が外れた。

レストランは、Ｔシャツで入るのはちょっと気が引けるような感じの洒落た内装だった。
席についたが、役人の方々とは少し離れた位置になってしまい、ほとんど話は出来なかった。
出てきた料理も、メヌーではなくて本格的なコース料理だった。

デザート、コーヒーまで出てきて、すっかり満腹になった後は、自治政府の方々にお礼を言って別れた。

目指すは本日の宿舎、サンティアゴ・デ･コンポステーラ大学である。

A few more officers of Galician government joined us and we went to the restaurant. I thought we would have menu del día, which we had many times while we were walking Camino, but it wasn't the case. We had a full-course meal. After eating, we said thanks to them and got apart, heading for the University of Santiago de Compostela, where we were to stay this night.

Pensé que tendríamos menú del día, que teníamos muchas veces mientras caminábamos en el Camino de Santiago, pero no fue así. Tuvimos cubierto. 巡礼者たちと食前酒 / Pilgrims and aperitif / Peregrinos y aperitivo

大聖堂の外で待っていたのは、アウグスティンとダヴィだった。
お互いに無事にサンティアゴまで来て再会できたことを喜びあった。

そうして写真を撮り終わると、メリデ付近で出会ったラケルたちにも再会できた。
ひとしきり話して写真を撮って、彼らとはお別れした。

その後、今回の講習を担当してくれたガリシア自治政府の役人の方と合流した。
地下にある小さなバルに入って、食前酒として一杯だけワインを飲んだ。

話によると、この後の昼食会は別のレストランであるらしい。

Outside of the Cathedral, Augustin and David were waiting for us. We were so happy that we could meet here again. We also found Raquel and others who we had met around Meride. We took photos each other. After that, officers of the Galician government joined us and we went to a underground bar, where we had a glass of wine as aperitif. Then they told us that we were having lunch in another restaurant.

Fuera de la catedral, Augustin y David nos estaban esperando. Estábamos tan contentos de que podríamos encontrarnos de nuevo aquí en Santiago. También me encontró a Raquel y otros a los que habíamos conocido en Meride. Tomamos fotos unos a otros. Después de eso, los funcionarios de la Xunta de Galicia se unieron a nosotros y nos fuimos a un bar subterráneo, donde bebímos vino como aperitivo. Luego nos dijeron que estábamos comiendo en otro restaurante.

カミーノ最後の夕食 / Last dinner on Camino / Última cena en el Camino

かなり緊張していたが、何とか無事自分の発表を終えた。
自分の番を終えた後は、注文してあったコーラを飲みながら、他のメンバーが発表するのを聞いていた。

メンバーの中にはスペイン語能力試験DELEの上級に合格しているメンバーもおり、自分の発表の拙さを改めて感じることとなった。
ともかく、全員発表を行い、ガリシア政府への報告は無事に終了した。

終了後は、モンテ・ド・ゴソの手前の村のレストランへ行き、夕食をとった。
発表が終わった開放感と、明日にはサンティアゴに到着し巡礼が終了するという感慨から、少し寂しさを感じつつも、沢山話をしながら呑んで食べた。

そのときの話題のひとつがこのクレデンシアルだ。
ブログではあまり触れなかったが、巡礼の途中にアルベルゲに泊まったときに一つずつスタンプを押してもらっていた。沢山集めるために、アルベルゲ以外にもバルなどでもスタンプがあれば押してもらったので、結構な数を集めることができた。

スタンプで埋まったクレデンシアルは、旅の様々なシーンを思い出させてくれる、巡礼のいい思い出の品の一つである。

After me, the other members finished their presentation. After that, I was released from the tension and also feeling the end of this pilgrimage. We went to a restaurant to have dinner, and talked and drank so much. At that time, we talked about the credencial. I got so many stamps at the albergues and the bars that I can remember every place.

Después de mi presentación, todos miembros acabaron las presentaciones. Así que me relajaba y también me sentía el fin de la peregrinación. Ellos me recordan a la peregrinación.

おじいちゃん2人 / Two old men / Dos viejos

空港脇の道を抜け頃に、前を歩く二人の老人に出会った。

例によって自己紹介程度、簡単に話をしながら歩いた。
二人ともスペイン人だったが、英語でも話をしてくれた。
スペイン語での会話は相変わらず苦手だったので、非常に助かったのを覚えている。

完全に空港付近から離れたころ、ぽつんと一軒のバルが見えた。
二人が休憩していくというので、ついでに自分も休むことにした。

歩き始めてからだいぶ時間が経っていたので、ボカディージョとコーラを注文して腹を満たした。

When I was finishing the road by the airport, I met two old men. As usual we introduced each other and talked as we walked. They were Spanish but sometimes talked in English, to which I was really thankful for I wasn't still used to talk in Spanish. As we went on, we found a bar and rested there. ピザ / Pizza

講義が終わって外にでると、もう辺りは暗くなっていた。

この日は、アルベルゲの近くのピザ屋pizzeriaで夕食を取った。
3～4人で1つのテーブルを囲み、それぞれのテーブルでピザなどを注文した。
たくさん種類がある中で、我々のテーブルではオーソドックスにシーフードを選択した。

他のメンバーたちはピザを2種類以上注文しているようだったが、我々は牛肉と米をクリームで煮込んだ料理を頼んだ。
ピザも美味しかったが、こちらもとても美味しかった。
ワインも美味しかったのは、言うまでもない。

When we went out after the class, it was already dark. This day we had dinner in a pizzeria near the albergue. There were three or four members for each table. ビール / Beer / Cerveza

アルスアでも、例によって、ベッドに荷物を置き、シャワーを浴びているうちに残りのメンバーもアルベルゲに到着した。
非常に天気のいい日だったので、洗濯をして、服を干し終わってから何人かで近くのバルへ行き、昼食をとることにした。

例によってアルコールを一杯だけ腹に入れて、後はトルティーリャやソーセージを適当につまんだ。（適当にとは言っても、やはり30数キロ歩いて、シャワーを浴びた後なので、とても美味しく感じた。）

昼食を済ませると、明日の朝に軽く食べるものを買うべくスーパーマーケットへ行き、ヨーグルトやドーナツなどを購入した。

アルベルゲに戻ると、中島先生から講義開始の連絡があった。

As always, while we were taking shower, the other members arrived at the albergue. After they took shower, we did the laundries and went to a bar in Arzua. We had tortilla, some sausages and drank beer, which tasted really good after 30 kilometer's walk. After eating, we went to a supermarket to buy some food for breakfast. Mientras duchabamos, como siempre, los otros miembros llegaron al albergue. Después de que ducharon, lavabamos las ropas y entonces ibamos a un bar de Arzua. Allí comimos tortilla y chorizo, bebiendo cerveza que sabía a gloria después de andar 30 kilometros. Entonces, ibamos a un supermercado para comprar algunas cosas de desayunar. アルスア到着 / Arriving at Arzua / Llegando a Arzua

ラケルたちと分かれてから、アルスアまでは一人で歩いた。
炎天下、というほどには暑くなかったが、標高が高く木陰も多い山道とは違って、アスファルトで舗装された車道の横を歩き続けたためか、ひどく喉が渇いていた。

アルスアの町の手前から、ほぼ真っ直ぐな道路が続いていて、町は見えているのになかなか到着しないもどかしさがあった。

町の入り口のあたりで、道ばたで休んでいたおじさんにアルベルゲの位置を訪ねると、5分ほど歩いたら見つかると言われたのでその通りにした。
アルベルゲに到着すると、既に何人かのメンバーは到着していて、シャワーを浴びていた。

I walked alone till Arzua. Though it wasn't so hot, the long road covered with asphalt made me feel thirsty. When I got to Arzua, I asked a man where the public albergue was. メリデに着くと、エステバンたちからここがうまいタコ料理屋pulperíaだと言われたが、少し離れたところで講習のメンバーたちを見つけたので、いったんそこで別れた。

メンバーたちのところへ行くと、すでに先に行ってしまった集団があるらしいといいう話を聞いた。

それはそれで仕方ないので、先ほどのタコ屋へ戻りエステバンたちや他の巡礼者と一緒にタコを食べた。まだ10km以上歩くと言うのに、習慣的に昼間からビールを飲んでしまった。問題のタコは、というと、カカベロスで食べた時も美味しいと思ったが、ここの店のはそれ以上だと思った。

そうこうしている内に、中島先生たちのグループも到着したが、先に食べ終わったので、もう少しゆっくりしていくというエステバンたちも置いて、先に出発することにした。

Arriving at Meride, Esteban told me that was a good pulperia (octopus restaurant) but I found the members a little far away and I left Esteban, Jorge and Fernando at the pulperia. As I talked with the members, I got to know that some members had already left Meride. Together we went back to the pulperia and eat very delicious octopus and drank some beer. Llegando a Meride, me dijo Esteban que aquella era buena pulperia, pero separaba con ellos porque encontraba a los miembros del curso. Me dijeron ellos que dos o tres miembros habían salido de Meride. Así que volvíamos a la pulperia y comíamos pulpo y bebía cerveza con Esteban y otros peregrinos. Despues de un rato, Sra. 講義が終わると、皆は近くのバルへ夕食を食べに出かけて行った。

自分は、というと、何だかよく分からないのだけれど、無性に一人でいたくなったので、昼間に見つけたお店でパンと生ハムとビール（エストレリャ・ガリシア）を買って、一人でアルベルゲの部屋で夕食をとった。

どうしてか分からない。
カミーノ講習のメンバーの皆と一緒にいるのは楽しい筈なのに、何故か、言いようのない不安な気持ちが襲ってきた。

ビールを胃に流し込んで、暗くなった窓の外を眺めながら、今日はまだメールチェックをしていないことに気がついた。ふらふらと、近くのバルに行き、パソコンを使ってウェブメールにアクセスしたけれど、東京の知り合いからは誰からもメールは来ていなかった。

アルベルゲに戻ると、少し後に夕食を終えたメンバーが帰ってきた。

少しだけ会話をして、明日は日本人同士ではできるだけ歩かないように、との中島先生からのお達しがあった事を知って、その日はベッドに入った。

After the class, everyone but I went to a bar for dinner. At that time, somehow I felt like being alone, so I ate somne bread and jamon and drunk beer. I didn't know why, but something had made me uneasy. It might be because I was in Spain which is far away from Japan. After I came back from a bar where I checked e-mail, everyone came back and told me that Ms. Nakajima told us to walk separately the next day, that is, to walk with other pilgrims than our members. どこか遠く / Middle of nowhere / Medio de la nada

1時間も歩かないうちに、道端のカフェで休憩をとった。平地に下りてきたのに少し肌寒かったので、温かいカフェ・コン・レチェが嬉しかった。メンバーの中には、朝ごはんと称してボカディージョか何かを食べている奴もいた。

それからしばらく、つまり恐らく2、3時間歩いてから、たまたま道沿いにカフェのようなところを見つけたので、一緒に歩いていたメンバーと中に入って再度休憩した。例のごとくコーラを飲んでいると、他のメンバーが外を歩いて行くのが見えた。

それから15分ほどしてから後を追った。サリア・ポルトマリーン間と違い、1時間もしないうちに彼女らに追いつくことが出来たが、まだ先を歩いているメンバーがいるという。

何とか追いつこうとして、山の中でもない、街の中でもない、どこか遠くの田舎の道を、何時間か一人で歩いた。

他の巡礼者には全くと言っていいほど出会わなかった。
唯一出会ったのが、ノルウェーから来たという2人組だったけれど、挨拶と少しの会話をしただけで別れた。

結局、この日先頭の2人に追いついたのは、宿泊予定のパラス・ド・レイPalas do Reiのアルベルゲに着いた時だった。

After an hour's walk, we rested in a cafe with "cafe con leche". And another two or three hours walk took us to a bar, where we also rested with cola for some fifteen minutes. I knew that two of our members were walking ahead of me, so I tried walking fast alone for some hours, only to catch them up in the albergue of Palas do Rei. While I was walking alone somewhere around a town or a mountain, I felt like I had been in the middle of nowhere and I only met two pilgrims from Norway but didn't talk so much. 　昨日はあれだけ歩いて、スペイン語で講義を聞いて、夜中まで飲んで踊って疲れている……はずなのに、6時45分頃に目が覚めた。早起き、というには少し遅い気もしたが、日本にいるときに比べれば格段に早いことは確かだった。

　昨日買っておいたパンを軽く食べて、7時半過ぎにはポルトマリーンを出た。

　辺りはまだ暗い。

　昨日までは、ポンフェラーダやサリーアのような都市もあったが、基本的には山道が中心だったが、この日は町の郊外のような、比較的平地の道を歩いた（といってもアップダウンがかなりあった……丘陵地帯、とでもいうのだろうか）。

　車道の道を、ただひたすらに、歩く。

Though yesterday we walked that much and listened to a class in fast Spanish and drank and danced till midnight and must have been tired, I got up as early as at 6:45 in the morning. Eating some bread I bought yesterday, leaving Portomarín at half past seven, we walked dark way along a road on a plain, which seemed different from the mountainous roads we had walked through and the cities like Ponferrada or Sarria. 　講義後は、講義担当の先生に連れられて、サン・フアン教会前の広場を一回りした。まだ祭りは始まっていないようだったが、既にたくさんの人々が集まっていた。ポルトマリーンのまちはそれほど大きくない気がする、と思ったが、どうやら巡礼者も多数混じっているらしい。

　講義担当の先生と別れて広場近くのバルに入り、相変わらずボリュームたっぷりのメヌーを食べ終えたのが10時頃だっただろうか。

　バルの外に出てみると、ステージでは既にバンドによる演奏が始まっていた。まちの人々や巡礼者がステージ前に集まって演奏を聴いている。中には、手を取り合って踊っている人たちもいた。その中に、見覚えのある顔があった。アウグスティンとダヴィである。

After the lecture, the lecturer woman took us around the central square and the church of San Juan. Though the festival seemed not to have started, many people were there. We had dinner in a bar near the square, and came back there at around 10 p.m., when the band had already started to play. Among the people listening to and dancing to the music, we found our friends, Augustin and David. アイスクリーム / Ice cream / Helado

ポルトマリーンのアルベルゲに行くと、中島先生がすでに手配していてくれたらしく、すんなりと16人分のベッドを確保することができた。しかし、アルベルゲのおばちゃんの曰く、使えるようにするまでまだ時間がかかる、とのこと。
仕方がないのでその間にシャワーを浴びさせてもらうことにした。

温かい湯を浴びながら、昨日のサモスで洗濯機がなく手洗いをせざるを得なかったために洗えなかった洗濯物のこと、今夜あるはずの2回目の講義のこと、そのあとで開催されるはずの祭りのこと、などをぼんやりと考えた。

シャワーを終えて、アルベルゲの入り口で涼んでいると、一緒に到着したメンバーもシャワーを終えて出てきた。ふらふらと2人で近くのスーパーへ行き、ポルトマリーンへ来る途中で先生へ電話してもらう代わりに、ということで約束していたアイスクリームを買って、近くの階段で座って食べていた。すると、2番目のグループが到着したところに出くわした。一緒にアルベルゲに戻りつつ、後方の様子を聞いたりした。

アルベルゲに戻るときには祭りの準備をしている様子が見えた。大きなステージがあり、本格的な演奏がされるらしい。

As we got to the albergue of Portomarín, we could find enough beds for sixteen people. While the caretakers were preparing the beds, we took a shower and went to a supermarket to buy an ice cream which I had promised my companion to buy on the way to Portomarín in return for a call to Ms. Nakajima. When we're eating the ice cream sitting on a stone step, two other members arrived. Going back to the albergue, we saw people preparing for the festival.
