セブレイロ峠 (1) / O Cebreiro (1)

さて、ようやくカミーノ5日目の始まり。
今日は今回のアストルガ＝サンティアゴ間の最大の難所であるセブレイロ峠Cebreiroを越えて、いよいよカスティーリャ・レオンに別れを告げ、ガリシアへと入っていきます。

朝、やはり7時前の早いうちに目が覚める。まだ外は暗いが、雨が降っている気配はなかったが、準備を整えて外へ出ると、路面はしっとりと濡れていた。

少し日が出てきたものの、霧がかかってまだどことなく暗い中、例によって車道に沿って歩いていく。
手には、昨日の夜に酒を飲むときのおつまみ用に買ったポテトチップの袋を持ったままで。
（1本だけ残ったリンゴ風味のビールはバックパックに入れることにした。）

のどかな農村を２つ３つ通り過ぎる中で、何人かの巡礼者を追い越した。
何語で話したかは忘れてしまったが、たぶん英語だったのだろう、そのうちの一人はカナダから来たと言っていた。自分たちが日本から来たというと、娘さんが結婚して日本にいるという話をしてくれた。
意外なところで繋がるものだ、と感じた。

そうこうしているうちに、突然急な坂道が目の前に現れた。
いよいよ峠である。

This is the 5th day on Camino when we came into Galicia. Though it wasn't raining when we got up, the road was wet and a white mist lay over the Camino. Going through some towns with potato chips in my hand (which was to be eaten last night), I met a few pilgrims, who told me that they came from Canada and whose daughter had got married to a Japanese. Éste es cinco día en el Camino de Santiago, cuando entrabamos en Galicia. Aunque no estaba lloviendo de mañana, el Camino se mojaba y estaba cubierto de niebla. Estaba andando con patatas fritas en mi mano, que era para comer ayer noche. En la villa segunda o tercera de este día nos encontrabamos a unos canadienses, quien dijeron que sus hija se casó con un japones. Después nos encontrabamos al camino en cuesta ....
