　町が祭りの開始を待ちきれない雰囲気になる中で、アルベルゲのロビーのような場所に椅子をならべて簡単に会場が作られ、ポルトマリーンの歴史に関する講義が行われた。

　講義の前半、洗濯機を回す順番待ちのせいで多少聞けなかった部分もあるのだけれど、今回の講義についてまとめてみよう。ちなみに、今回の講義は美術史を専門とする先生が担当してくれ、建築様式に関する部分もあったのだが、全体としては町としてのポルトマリーンの歴史だったように思う。

　ポルトマリーンと呼ばれる町は12世紀から既に存在していたらしい。フランスからのサンティアゴ巡礼が盛んになる時期とほぼ一致する。しかし、中世のポルトマリーンは現在のポルトマリーンとは異なる場所に存在していた。新旧どちらのポルトマリーンにも共通しているのは、町の中心のサン・フアン教会である。

　中世のポルトマリーンはミーニョ川を挟んで対岸に位置する二つの町から成っていた。サン・フアンとサン・ペドである。二つの町はミーニョ川にかかる橋でつながっていた。当時から存在していたサン・フアン教会は、次第に城砦としての機能を持つようになっていったらしい。

In the albergue, we heard a lecture about the history of the town of Portomarín, which was delivered by a professor of, perhaps, art history. The town called Portomarín had existed since twelfth century, when pilgrimage from France to Santiago became popular. But medieval Portomarín was not in the place where now Portomarín is. In both Portomarín, now and then, there exists the church of San Juan in the center of the town. In the middle ages, Portomarín was consisted of two towns on the different side of the Miño river, both of which are connected by a bridge. En el albergue, escuchabamos una clase de la historia de la ciudad de Portomarín, que era dado por una profesora de historia del arte. La ciudad llamada Portomarín había existido desde el siglo doce, cuando la peregrinación se hacía famosa. Pero Portomarín medieval no estaba en el lugar donde está Portomarín ahora. Hay y había la iglesia de San Juan en ambos Portomarín. En la edad media, Portomarín estaba constado de dos partes en diferente lado del río Miño, ambos de las cuales estaba conectado por un puente.
